1. Instantaneous Power Analysis Instantaneous power in AC circuits equals the product of voltage and current at any given moment. In purely resistive circuits, power remains consistently positive as voltage and current stay in phase. However, circuits containing inductors or capacitors experience power oscillation between positive and negative values due to phase differences. During negative power periods, reactive elements release stored energy back to the circuit, acting temporarily as power sources. 2. Average Power and RMS Values Average power represents the time-independent power delivered over a complete cycle, calculated by integrating instantaneous power over one period.
